Visit to experimental trials of the DESERT project

Visit to the trials of the DESERT project (16/07/2018)

Within the framework of the LIFE DESEACROP project (Desalinated seawater for alternative and sustainable soilless crop production – LIFE16-ENV-ES-000341), the Polytechnic University of Cartagena and the company Valoriza – Agua, an expert company in the design, engineering, construction, operation and maintenance of water treatment plants, have visited the demonstration trials of the DESERT (Low cost water desalination and sensor technology compact module) project in Roldán in Murcia.

DESERT is a European project financed by WATER JPI and led in Spain by researchers from the CEBAS-CSIC irrigation group. The main objective of the DESERT project is to create an intelligent system that combines sustainable technology in the treatment of water (desalination of reclaimed water) and water quality sensors, adapted to the local situation in order to increase the efficiency, sustainability and productivity of irrigated agriculture.

Given the parallelism between the DESERT and DESEACROP projects, this NETWORKING has represented a great opportunity to visit and learn about its progress and results and establish future connections and collaborations.

DESEACROP thanks the members of DESERT for the opportunity to visit their facilities and the cordial treatment received.
